Who likes the Audi e-tron S Sportback
The Audi e-tron S Sportback appeals to discerning motorists who want to call an all-electric premium SUV coupé their own.
Beauty before maximum trunk volume
For years, SUVs have been one of the most popular car categories among Mr and Mrs Swiss. Numerous niches have long since formed in this segment, for example that of SUV coupés. Less trunk space for a nicer line is the motto here. Audi is also targeting this target group with the e-tron S Sportback. With 615 liters, the Sportback swallows less luggage than its brother e-tron, but scores with its more dynamic look.
Three engines for a hallelujah
Speaking of dynamics: To ensure that the e-tron S Sportback delivers what it promises, Audi is giving it three electric motors. Together, they deliver an impressive 503 hp and an even more impressive 973 Newton meters of torque. This allows it to sprint to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Even more impressive are intermediate sprints. Even if you don't press the accelerator pedal fully, you can accelerate from 80 to 120 km/h in no time after the motorway construction site. The weight of just under 2.7 tons is not noticeable, at least straight ahead, only downhill when braking sharply on serpentines it cannot be completely concealed.
300 kilometers range depending on driving style
Of the 95 kWh battery, 86.5 kWh can effectively be used. We did not achieve the range of almost 400 (377 to be exact) kilometers predicted by Audi in the test, but this is also due to the driving and route profile. Especially those who regularly call up the power are sometimes over 30 kWh/100 kilometers. On the highway, on the other hand, the e-tron S Sportback benefits from its streamlined performance: 0.26 is a top value. To do this, the Ingolstadt-based company also digs deep into its technology trick box: For example, the cooling air intake with channels for cooling the front wheel brakes remains closed as often as possible, so that the airstream flows over the hood almost without turbulence.
To 80 percent in less than 30 minutes
And they fly by afterwards, as the Audi e-tron S Sportback is also comfortably and elegantly equipped in the interior. The seats are suitable for long distances and comfortable, and the entire cockpit is sportily geared towards the driver. The steering wheel fits very well in the hand and the music system convinces with high sound quality. Even at highway speeds, wind noise remains very low, making the Audi e-tron S Sportback the perfect companion for all those who want to drive only on electricity from now on. And if you believe the election of the "Swiss favourite car", there are already a lot of them. Only the price of at least 102,100 francs probably ensures that there is a difference between desire and reality.
What we like less
The e-infrastructure is growing, charging is becoming easier and easier. Nevertheless, we would like to see more than around 300 "real" kilometres of range.
What we particularly like
In the vote for the Swiss favorite car, the Audi e-tron S Sportback took third place and was also the most sought-after, all-electric car for the 25,000 survey participants. We tested the SUV electric car for two weeks.
